WAHMs are no exception to this simple fact. And something else that no woman is immune to is that she will more often then not, put herself last.
When you made the decision to be a WAHM, you probably smiled at the thought of being able to work in your sweatpants. But, just because you can doesn’t mean that you should. When getting ready to run errands, keep in mind that everybody you run into are potential clients. Before you leave the house, ask yourself “Would I buy from me?"
The same goes even on those days you don’t leave the house. It is important you feel pretty and professional. After all, those sweats are for relaxing and doing little to nothing; are you relaxed and doing nothing at work? Of course not. So you need to dress for public even though you are not leaving your home office.
Now, that is not to say that you have to put on your skirt and high heels. Pick out an out fit that is somewhere in the middle. A nice, clean shirt and a sweater along with a pair of jeans or slacks will work well.
If you don’t have time to wash and style your hair, add some curlers to it while you make breakfast. This is very simple and it will add body to hair. Take a couple of minutes for your face as well. You don’t have to put on your full ‘face’ on days you stay home, but taking just a few minutes to add some mascara and lip gloss will go a long way in you state of mind. And don’t forget the squirt of perfume, too.
It is very easy for WAHMs to forget that they are women. This is a thought that shouldn’t be too far from your mind. Even though you have so many other titles, be they mother, wife, sister, daughter, you are first a woman and need to take care of yourself so you can take care of the world.
