If you’re an affiliate marketer, you’ll need to stand out from your competition. You might do this by offering bonuses or a discount for customers who buy products through your affiliate link. This is especially prudent with high-end products that are expensive.
For instance, a very popular Internet marketer releases his latest and eagerly awaited course on “How to Get More Traffic to your Website.” Because he’s well known and an “expert,” he already has lots of affiliates just waiting in the wings to tell their lists about his latest product. How do you compete with that?
Simple. Give your customers a little extra.
Don’t send just another email promoting this new product. Instead, set up a special promotion for customers who buy it through your link. For example, you might offer a private tele-class for affiliates, where you teach them some your own strategies or tips. You might offer a recorded interview with transcribed notes on a related subject. You might even offer one-on-one coaching time with you. The latter can be time consuming, so you might limit the offer to the first 5 or first 10 purchases made through your link.
Or offer a discount to those who purchase through your link. If you’re promoting a product that costs $950 and your commission is 50%, you might find it viable to give people who purchase through your link $100 or $150 off. This is a great incentive for customers to buy through you, because everyone wants to save money where they can.
It should be noted that some programs may not permit, or will at least frown on, these promotional tactics. Do your homework and if you don’t know what’s acceptable, contact the program manager directly and ask.
It’s wise to remember, though, that the more time and effort you put into a product you believe in, the more likely you’ll make more sales with that product. People will see what you’ve done and think you believe in the product. And if you’re choosing and promoting the right products, they’re probably right.
