What Are These Hidden Income Opportunities?

We all have something that we can do quite well or even fairly well. All we need to do is find a way to tap into those talents and make a profit from it. So, it’s time to look within yourself and see what it is that could be your gift. Here are some talents that may be lying dormant within you:

Typing:

Do you have some typing skills? Can you type fairly fast and make few mistakes? Those who have good to excellent typing skills have a great income opportunity on their hands; or in this case- their fingers.

Typing skills can be gained by employment where you did a lot of typing in your job, typing letters, or typing documents and emails. If you have typing ability under your belt; then you should consider using it as an income source.

Income Ideas:

There are a few different ways you can use your typing abilities. Let’s take a look at them:

Transcription

Transcription is when you take a piece of audio and type what is being said onto a document. So, the audio file can be read as well as heard. The transcribed documents are used in a variety of ways.

Marketers use them as bonuses for a product purchase; freebies for opt-in signups, and even broken into newsletter or ezine articles. There are three different types of transcription services being offered today.

  • General
  • Legal
  • Medical

General is the more common type of transcriptioning that you will find. One who gets into this type of business will be typing a whole range of documents for clients. They could be for focus groups, finance companies or even speeches.

The only skills that are required to start this kind of business are typing skills and good listening skills. You should also have good computer equipment to hear what is being said on the audio file to ensure accurate documents.

Legal transcription is basically transcribing legal items. This type of business would require you to have some sort of experience in the legal field; to show that you know your way around the intricacies of the legal profession.

You aren’t required to be a lawyer or a paralegal; but you should have some experience working in a legal environment, like a secretary for example. Having some knowledge in the field will help you break into this type of transcriptioning.

Medical transcription is where you would transcribe medical dictations. Doctors and other medical professionals frequently seek out medical transcriptionists to do this task for them as they don’t have time to type. Often the office secretaries don’t either.

To get into medical transcriptioning; one should have at least the proper schooling. Schooling teaches you not only how to transcribe their documents, but it helps you learn the medical terms that are often used in the dictations. That will be important as you won’t get much of a chance to check with the doctors to see what they were referring to.

Typing Letters

If you don’t quite have the fast typing skills that transcriptioning takes, but you can still type well without too many errors; then you could offer your services simply typing letters for other people.

Local businesses might be a good place for you to start. They may already have secretaries working for them, but work could be so far behind that it would cost too much to catch up. Some businesses will outsource to freelancers some of the work to avoid missing deadlines or simply just to move things along.

Sure, the internet age brought us emails. But, the use of email programs hasn’t killed off the need for typing letters. Businesses still rely on communicating with others through the use of letter typing, so the work is there.

If you take your typing business to the internet, you will have even more opportunities. Many online business owners don’t use secretaries. They typically will do most of the work on their own, but they usually find themselves with little time left over for simple tasks like typing letters.

Businesses aren’t the only ones who are need of a typist. Everyday people will gladly hand over their typing tasks to someone who has the time or has the skill to get what they need done. Your neighbors or even the sweet old lady down the street could possibly be one of your clients.

Parents are no exceptions to this. Children love to receive mail; especially when it’s from someone they know well- like Santa Claus. Santa letters have become popular these days as parents with young children seek to bring a little happiness into their child's life.

A letter from Santa puts a smile on their kids’ faces and helps remind them to be good because Santa’s watching them. You can make money and put a smile on a kid’s face as well as their parents.
