Keeping a Laser Focus on your Business

Staying focused is truly one of the hardest parts of running your business if you are easily distracted. It is also very easy to procrastinate when you are a WHAM; after all, there are so many other things to do.

Here is something that nobody may have told you; there is no house cleaning fairy. Oh, you’ve heard that before? Well, then, I guess the dishes and laundry are just going to have to wait! Yes, they will do that; they will wait for you to have time for them. What doesn’t wait are customers. If you don’t take care of them, someone else will.

When you have days where you are having a hard time staying focused, make a list of the reason you WAHM. Is it to save for your retirement? For the children’s college? Just to make life a little more comfortable? Whatever the reason, write it down and post is somewhere you can see it when you need to refocus.

Teaming up with another WAHM may be a good way to stay focused as well. Let her know your goals and keep them updated. When she asks if you have accomplished them at the end of the day, you better have a good reason why if you tell her no.

Staying motivated is key to staying on track. Set daily weekly and monthly goals for yourself. This “working backwards” technique will help create a map you can look at to make sure you are on track. For instance, if you business is direct sales and your monthly goal is $1500 a month, with some simple math you can figure what your weekly goal is and how many parties you are going to need to hold to accomplish the goal.

Keep yourself motivated and you will see it is easier to focus. The easier it is to focus, the more money you will make.
