Tips to Improve your Work at Home Mom Networking Opportunities
When you are a WAHM, you most likely will have a small network of other WAHMs who you meet with every so often either on line or locally. These are women you can really connect with. They ‘get it’, they understand what you are going thru; ups, downs and even sideways when you don’t seem to be making progress one way or another.
It is important, however, to set outside your comfort zone once in a while. While that may make you panic a bit, there are good reasons so keep reading.
One of the biggest reasons to take that leap is networking on a larger scale. See, studies show that the average person knows about 250 people. If you have been networking with the same 10 people for years, chance are the potential for further business has been tapped. But, if you go to local networking meetings, you are opening yourself up to a larger potential client base. If you don’t already know of these meetings, contact your Chamber of Commerce and they will be able to let you know when they are holding their next meeting.
Go to these types of meetings regularly to get to know more people. When conversations turn to what each of you do for a living, simply hand them your business card and let them know what services you offer. When they are in need, you have already made contact so you may very well be their first call. Be sure to do the same for your new ‘buddy.’
Networking type meets will often have business seminars and guest speakers. You may pick up some tax tips or hear some community news that is not on the internet WAHM forums you have been reading.
So, get out there and do some networking with new people, but be sure to keep your other contacts in the fold as well.
